NIVA Board Meeting 2025

NIVA’s board meeting took this year place in Helsinki, bringing together board members from the Nordic countries to discuss the future of occupational health and safety in the region.
The meeting offered an opportunity for meaningful discussion and future planning, reinforcing NIVA’s commitment to promoting a safe, integrated, and competitive labour market across the Nordics.
A key topic of discussion during the meeting was the course proposals for 2026. We are pleased to announce that a wide range of high-quality proposals have been accepted, contributing to a more sustainable and secure working environment. These new courses aim to further support safe and healthy workplaces throughout the Nordic region.
Ove Österbacka, Senior Expert, Occupational Health, Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) and NIVA’s Head of the Board, emphasized the importance of regional cooperation:
“Collaboration is essential in occupational health and safety, especially in the Nordic region. While each country may be small on its own, together we have a stronger impact. Through NIVA, we have a platform to share research findings and collaborate effectively.”
NIVA’s director will be in touch regarding the course proposals in April, and we look forward to continuing our work on creating safe and healthy workplaces both within the Nordics and beyond.
