About the Webinar
Trans people’s working life conditions in the Nordic region
In the Nordic region, as well as internationally, working life conditions for trans people are worse than for the majority population. Unemployment is about twice as high and a higher proportion of trans people also have low incomes compared to the general population. Trans people also experience high levels of discrimination and harassment in the labour market.
The newly released Nordic knowledge overview Trans people’s Working Life Conditions in the Nordic Region (published 3.6.2024), conducted by NIKK (Nordic Information on Gender), provides a comprehensive picture of the current situation. At this webinar, the knowledge overview will be presented for the very first time.
To add to the picture, knowledge from the work with a new research-based, practical guide for workplaces, about good work environment for LGBTI people, will be presented. The guide is conducted by the Swedish Agency for Work Environment Expertise (Mynak). Representatives from civil society and labour unions will also reflect on the new knowledge and ways forward from their point of view.
Nordic Information on Gender, NIKK and NIVA, invite you to a webinar on these highly topical issues. NIKK has been in charge of this project aimed at highlighting the working conditions of transgender people in the Nordic Region in order to facilitate dialogue and identify needs and measures for improvement. The Nordic Council of Ministers has initiated the project.
