Seniors and the Nordic Labour Markets

Seniors and the Nordic Labour Markets

2nd of April 2020
Eigtveds Pakhus, Copenhagen, Denmark

How to ensure a long and healthy work life for seniors is an issue of interest to all Nordic labour markets. As the workforces are ageing, it is valuable to learn from experiences across the Nordic countries in order to insure that seniors willing and able to work may pursue a few more years on the labour market.

In that regard, the Danish Ministry of Employment is hosting a conference on “Seniors and the Nordic Labour Markets” in Copenhagen the 2nd of April 2020 under the auspices of the Danish chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Exchange of Nordic experiences

The aim of the conference is to promote and exchange Nordic experiences on senior work life by bringing together leading expertise from Nordic research institutes, companies, policy initiatives and reform programs.

At the conference, the Nordic ministers of employment will take part in a panel discussion on the biggest challenges faced by the Nordic labour markets in clearing the way for seniors that are able and willing to stay on the labour market, and the solutions that will be needed.

The conference will focus on different themes related to senior work life, including:

  • Differences and similarities between Nordic senior initiatives and success factors
  • The impact of pension schemes and reforms of Nordic pension schemes.
  • Drivers for the labour market participation of seniors
  • How companies successfully can encourage a long and healthy work life for seniors
