President of Iceland to address the Nordic Council Theme Session

The President will also talk about what brings people together in the Nordic Region, what separates us and what explains the progress made by the Nordic societies in the world of today. The Theme Session will focus on an open debate about the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Action Plan 2025–2030. Official Nordic co-operation will continue to pursue its vision of the Nordic Region as the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030.

The Theme Session and the regular Annual Session in October/November are the two occasions when all 87 parliamentarians on the Nordic Council gather to debate and make decisions in plenary. The Annual Session will be held in Oslo because Norway holds the Presidency of the Nordic Council this year.

We must uphold positive patriotism and respect for good, traditional values while embracing new currents and condemning chauvinism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance and narrow-mindedness.

The President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson
